The Magic of Decluttering
This is a true story about the magic of decluttering. If you want to start something new, or invite something or someone new and wonderful come into your life, you need to make some space.
As I mentioned in my bio, I grew up with Taoism and Feng Shui principles, and have always been interested in Feng Shui. But on my 50th birthday, during a quiet, reflective time when I was on sabbatical, it became clear to me that this is my true calling.
I have been an educator for over 25 years, and loved my academic life of teaching, research and writing. I am also an avid musician. So altogether, I had a very busy, full life. But I realized that in order to pursue my passion, I had to make some room in my life, physically and psychologically.
According to Feng Shui, the energy in our outer life - the physical space around us - affects and reflects our inner life - our physiological, psychological and emotional states.
As an educator, I loved my books. My bookshelves were full of beautiful books. I loved seeing them there, but to be honest, I rarely read any of them. Some of them were brand new. So this was my personal challenge: letting go of all those books.
I decided to donate them to the local library, which had a second-hand book shop. The money raised from book sales supported literacy programs. Knowing that my books were going to do something good helped me to let them go. I now had empty space on my bookshelves.
Within a couple of days, I received an email inquiry for my first professional Feng Shui consultation through an acquaintance, and I didn’t even have a website yet! This is Feng Shui Magic!
So if you want to manifest something new and wonderful in your life, create some physical and psychological space for it to enter your life.
